Türkiye has warned that recent statements and actions by France and Greece could increase tensions and harm peace in the region.

According to officials from Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry, comments about Türkiye’s role in Europe’s security system are not in line with NATO principles. They also raised concerns over reports that French troops might be deployed to the Greek Cypriot side of Cyprus.

Türkiye emphasized that it remains a key guarantor of Cyprus’s security under international agreements and warned that any new military steps could upset the delicate balance on the island. Officials stressed that Ankara will not compromise on its national interests or those of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

At the same time, Türkiye dismissed the idea that any alliance against it would succeed, saying cooperation not confrontation is the path to stability.

The ministry also addressed the recent interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, calling it a clear violation of international law. Officials added that Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and is ready to take necessary steps, particularly regarding humanitarian aid and regional security.

Overall, Ankara is calling for restraint and dialogue, warning that rising tensions could destabilize an already sensitive region.
