Hakan Fidan, the foreign minister of Türkiye, has said Ankara strongly opposes any plan that could trigger a civil war in Iran or create conflict along ethnic and religious lines.
Speaking at a press conference in Ankara alongside German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Fidan warned against attempts to exploit sectarian divisions in Iran and stressed that the country’s territorial integrity must be respected.
Fidan also addressed the escalating violence in Lebanon, criticizing Israel’s continued bombardment. He accused the government of Benjamin Netanyahu of increasing instability in the region.
According to Fidan, the attacks risk pushing Lebanon toward collapse, which could have serious consequences for the wider Middle East. He also condemned the large-scale displacement caused by the fighting, calling the humanitarian impact unacceptable.
His remarks come as tensions rise across the region due to ongoing clashes between Israel and armed groups in Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle East.
