Türkiye has strongly condemned Israel’s military attacks on Lebanon, saying the strikes have forced around one million people to flee their ho
In a statement released by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ankara said the attacks are a serious violation of international humanitarian law. The government also accused the administration of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of increasing instability across the region.
Türkiye warned that Israel should not be allowed to continue in Lebanon what it has done in Gaza Strip, and said it stands in solidarity with the Lebanese people and government while their sovereignty and territorial integrity are under threat.
The escalation began when Hezbollah launched attacks on Israeli military sites on March 2, saying it was responding to repeated Israeli strikes in Lebanon and the killing of Iran’s former supreme leader Ali Khamenei during a joint US-Israeli strike.
Israel then responded with a military offensive, including air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and other areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, followed by a limited ground incursion into southern parts of the country.
According to Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nasser El Din, the attacks have killed 634 people, including 91 children, and injured 1,586 others.
