JD Vance has departed for Pakistan to lead peace talks involving Iran, saying he hopes the negotiations will produce a positive outcome.

Before leaving, Vance said the US delegation is looking forward to the discussions and believes progress is possible—but only if Iran approaches the talks sincerely.

He stated that if Iran negotiates “in good faith,” the talks could move forward constructively. However, he warned that if Iran tries to manipulate or delay the process, the US team will not respond favorably.

Vance also said the delegation is working under direct guidance from the White House and following clear instructions from President Donald Trump.

The talks are expected to focus on easing tensions after recent conflict in the region and may play a major role in determining whether the current ceasefire develops into a longer-term peace agreement.

Pakistan has recently taken on a key diplomatic role by helping mediate between Washington and Tehran, making the meeting an important moment in wider regional peace efforts.
