Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has held separate calls with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan to discuss developments in the region.

“We evaluated the problems that have emerged in implementing the Gaza peace plan and the steps we can take,” Fidan said on Thursday, noting that both ministers were part of his diplomatic contacts on recent regional developments.

The ministers also discussed the latest developments in Syria. Fidan said they reiterated their strong support for efforts to establish peace and stability in Palestine.

The talks also covered the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the latest status of negotiations between countries involved in the dispute.

“As three brotherly countries that want peace and prosperity in our region, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation and coordination in all areas,” said Fidan.

Escalation of Israeli attacks

The calls came as Türkiye, Egypt and Qatar strongly condemned recent Israeli attacks in Gaza that killed civilians, including women and children, warning that the escalation threatened ongoing efforts to implement the ceasefire.

In a joint statement on Thursday, the three countries, acting as mediators, expressed “deep concern” over continued violations and said the intensification of Israeli attacks was undermining regional and international efforts at a critical stage.

They said intensive efforts were under way to implement the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, citing a meeting between the Board of Peace and Israeli officials as well as “constructive steps” in the negotiation process.

Another 10 Palestinians have been killed and 25 wounded in Gaza over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll from Israel’s genocide in the blockaded enclave since October 2023 to 73,417.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that 174,360 people had also been wounded, while Israeli truce violations had killed 1,283 Palestinians and injured 4,248 others.
