A new proposal for a 45-day ceasefire has been sent to both the United States and Iran, offering a possible pause in the escalating conflict. The plan, backed by mediators from Pakistan, Egypt, and Türkiye, aims to create space for negotiations toward a long-term peace.
A key part of the proposal is reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil routes, which Iran has tightened control over during the conflict.
So far, neither side has officially responded. Meanwhile, tensions remain high. Donald Trump has warned Iran to reopen the strait or face potential strikes on critical infrastructure. Iran, on the other hand, insists that the situation will not return to how it was before, especially regarding the US and Israel.
On the ground, violence continues. Airstrikes by the US and Israel are ongoing in Iran, with reports of key military figures being killed. Iran has responded with its own attacks, targeting regional areas and Israel.
Civilians are paying the highest price. In Haifa, a missile strike hit a residential building, causing multiple deaths. Across Iran, casualties are also rising as the fighting intensifies.
The ceasefire proposal offers a brief window of hope—but with both sides still exchanging threats and attacks, the path to peace remains uncertain.
