Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has confirmed that he will not attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States.
In a statement released on Sunday, Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson to Vice President Kashim Shettima, said that President Tinubu has officially directed Shettima to represent him and lead the country’s delegation to the high-level global event.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated Vice-President Kashim Shettima to represent him and lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York, United States,” the statement read.
According to the presidency, Vice-President Shettima will lead a high-level delegation comprising Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, as well as various ministers, and other senior government officials.
President Tinubu has been on a three-week vacation in Europe since August 30.
