A military-escorted convoy carrying civilians in northern Ghana was attacked by gunmen, leaving three people dead and one injured. The convoy, which included around 140 civilians, was traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga when it came under fire near Binduri.
The military responded quickly, managing to push back the attackers and reportedly killing seven of them. Security forces also arrested several suspects and recovered weapons during the operation.
This incident is part of a long-running conflict in the Bawku area, mainly linked to tensions between the Kusasi and Mamprusi communities. These disputes, often connected to traditional leadership (chieftaincy), have led to repeated हिंसा over the years.
Despite curfews, military deployments, and attempts at mediation, the region continues to experience cycles of attacks and retaliation. This has disrupted daily life, trade, and security for local residents.
In simple terms, even with strong military presence, the root causes of the conflict remain unresolved, making the area one of the most unstable parts of the country.
