Sergey Lavrov has reaffirmed the strength of Russia’s partnership with Iran, confirming ongoing military cooperation while rejecting allegations of intelligence-sharing as unfounded.
In remarks to France Télévisions, Lavrov described Moscow-Tehran relations as firmly anchored in a military-technical agreement. He argued that accusations of intelligence support lack credibility, pointing out that strategic data such as U.S. base locations is already publicly accessible.
The Russian foreign minister also condemned what he called aggressive rhetoric from U.S. officials regarding potential actions against Iranian leadership, portraying such statements as destabilizing. He maintained that Iran’s regional moves are responses to U.S. and Israeli actions, which he claims violate international law.
Lavrov further rejected parallels between Russia’s ties with Iran and its war in Ukraine, insisting that cooperation with Tehran remains within transparent and legal frameworks.
The statements come amid increasing pressure from European officials, underscoring growing geopolitical friction between Western powers and the strengthening Moscow-Tehran axis.
