Burkina Faso has issued security guidance and evacuation support measures for its citizens living in Iran and other Middle Eastern countries as the regional security situation continues to deteriorate.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Burkinabè Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country’s embassy in Tehran has established a mechanism to assist nationals wishing to return voluntarily to Burkina Faso. The initiative follows instructions from national authorities and aims to ensure the safe organization of travel procedures for citizens seeking to leave the region.
The assistance mechanism is being implemented in coordination with Iranian authorities and the Burkinabè embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, to facilitate administrative procedures and transit arrangements.
Burkinabè citizens who wish to return home have been invited to register with the representative of the High Council of Burkinabè Abroad in Iran before March 13, 2026.
In a separate advisory, authorities urged nationals in the region to strictly follow security instructions issued by local authorities, limit movements to essential travel, cooperate with officials and avoid contact with unknown individuals.
The measures come as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to heighten security concerns for foreign nationals living in the region.
