A gun battle between armed attackers and Nigerian security forces has left ten police officers dead in a remote area of the country’s north, authorities said on Tuesday.
The clash, which occurred on Monday in the Sakaba council area of Kebbi state, also left two civilians and 17 of the armed attackers dead, police spokesperson Bashir Usman said in a statement.
The identity of the attackers is yet to be known as investigations into the deadly incident continue, police said.
