Parliament speakers attending the NATO Parliamentary Summit in Istanbul paid a field visit to Baykar’s Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center on Tuesday, hosted by Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, ahead of next week’s NATO summit in Ankara.

Following the summit at Istanbul’s Dolmabahce Palace on Monday, Kurtulmus, along with parliament speakers and senior parliamentary representatives from allied countries, toured the facility.

During the visit, Baykar Chairman Selcuk Bayraktar briefed the delegation on the company’s activities, defence technologies and ongoing innovation projects.

Kurtulmus also met Canan Bayraktar, widow of the late Ozdemir Bayraktar, a pioneer of Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative and indigenous combat drone programme, and mother of Selcuk Bayraktar, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Baykar Technology.

The visit comes ahead of the July 7-8 NATO summit in Ankara, which will, for the first time, include a defence industry forum as part of its official programme.
