Twelve airlines have resumed flights to Syria, marking a significant step in the country’s aviation recovery. Damascus International and Aleppo International airports are now served by regional carriers such as Turkish Airlines, Royal Jordanian, flynas, and Jazeera Airways, alongside Syrian Airlines. Civil aviation chief Omar al‑Hosari said the return of carriers reflects improved operational readiness and compliance with international safety standards.
Transit traffic through Syrian airspace has also increased, boosting confidence in the sector. Authorities are now focused on restoring direct links with Europe, working with global aviation safety organizations to re‑certify airports. The revival comes after years of decline during the civil war, which had rendered Syrian airspace high‑risk until the transitional administration took office in 2025.
