Türkiye has strongly condemned the actions of Itamar Ben-Gvir, who entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem. Turkish officials described the move as a serious provocation against one of Islam’s most sacred sites.
In its statement, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry criticized the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, saying they threaten the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa, which is considered a holy place for Muslims.
The ministry also stressed that protecting access to the المسجد is a shared responsibility of the international community, calling for the site to remain open for Muslim worship without restrictions.
Tensions are further heightened as Israeli authorities have kept both Al-Aqsa and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre closed for over a month, citing a state of emergency linked to the wider regional conflict.
The incident adds to growing unrest in the region, where religious, political, and military tensions are increasingly intertwined.
